The non-profit organisation Japanisch-Deutsches Zentrum Berlin (JDZB) was founded on 15th of January 1985 motivated by the governmental leaders of germany und japan, Kohl and Nakasone. The challenge of the JDZB is to ioncrease the japanese-german and international cooperation in the fields of science and culture and their relation with economies life. Furthermore europe and east asia are included in this german-japanese cooperation.
In the common statement of both countries in June 1997 for the intensivation of the german-japanese youth and people exchange a new topic was set up to the bilateral relations. Based on this common statement new exchange programs were introduced, like the german-japanese youthleader exchange.
This Exchange is funded by the ministry of family, retired persons, women and youth in germany and in japan by the ministry of education, culture, sports, science und technology.
The coordination and execution of this program is done by the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokio in cooperation with the prefecture Gunma. In germany the Japanisch-Deutsches Zentrum Berlin in cooperation with the Kinder- und Jugendring Sachsen e.V. is responsible.
The target group of this program are young people, who are volunteer workers in the field of youth. They are given the possibility to take part on an two weeks exchange to learn about youth, education and students in the partner country.
