German - Japanese Youthleader Exchange 2006

13th - 27th of September 2006

# Day 9, 21st of September 2006

This day starts with a visit at the Ojima elementary school of Ohta city. That's a real highlight. We feel like aliens having the first contact to Japanese pupils. Most of the students are paralysed as they see us crazy Germans and than they start to wave friendly. After a short report by the principal we have some time to walk around and to have a look behind the scenes at the school. Later on it's time to meet at the sports ground. All pupils present an awesome performance for us. The pictures and videos just give a little impression what we got to see.

Then it's our task to entertain the teachers. Honestly our dance isn't that fabulous in comparison to the Japanese show. For lunch we all get picked up separately into the classes. Some of us don't even get something to eat, because the pupils are so enthusiastic about us. Although we could have been stayed for longer, it's already time to say good-bye.

For the upcoming program our delegation is divided into two groups. One part visits the University of Gunma and the other part visits the University of Takasaki. There we listen to several reports and discuss with students.

At the evening we're taking part in the next highlight of our journey. In the hotel we have an appointment with specialists of the youth work from Ohta city. The upcoming reports seem to be a kind of a comedian. The mushroom-parade we'll never forget.

At the end of the day we practise a last time our Sayonara program and finish the night with some good Japanese beers.
